Little village, more than 300 habitants, is located in the Gravona Higj Valley. It is part of the Corsican Natural parc.

The village is located at an average altitude of 500 meters on a Rinosu chain slope, built at the foot of the mount "Cachjoni" (1265 m).

As soon you let the national road, you cross Carbuccia bridge, you'll be astonished by the variety and the density of vegetable cover: holm oaks, giant oaks cork, heathers, myrtles, cystes, cane-apple bushes, arborescent heathers, royal ferns... and of course chestnuts

Its North-eastern orientation explains its you'll find a lot of water and gets in summer a particularly appreciated freshness. The major part of the area sloping and is intersected with deep small valleys, at the bottom of which torrents with clear water run.

Wild fauna is significant: Hermann tortoises, birds sedentary or migrating, diurnal and night raptors, wildcats (very difficult to observe), foxes and of course wild boars. With this fauna are added pigs and goat's milk cheeses wild, difficult to differentiate from the domestic species, with which they can breed themselves without difficulty.

A walk in the village lanes ("stretti") will enable you to discover some significant places of the village: The current church built in 1884 and dedicated to Saint Jacques the Major (Carbuccia was a stage on the pilgrimage of Saint Jacques de Compostelle).

The central fountain "U Matrali" where fresh and drinkable water runs in abundance, the laundrette, the small Saint Antoine vault and many other things ...

Some steps in the surrounding countryside and the signs of the past agriculture activity will be revealed with you: small houses ("casette") used like sheep-folds, chestnuts driers or corn threshing floor ("aghje "),...
